Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about online counselling
Yes. Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as face-to-face sessions for most concerns, including anxiety, depression, and stress. Many clients find the comfort of being in their own space actually helps them open up more easily.
Yes. Because all sessions are delivered online via secure video conferencing, I can work with clients anywhere in Australia — whether you are in Perth, regional WA, or interstate. I also work with clients internationally (excluding Canada and the USA).
I specialise in PMDD, depression, sports counselling for endurance athletes, migration adjustment, anxiety, and stress management. However, counselling can help with a wide range of concerns including relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, self-esteem, and personal growth.
You need a device with a camera, microphone, and speaker (a laptop, tablet, or smartphone all work), a stable internet connection, and a quiet private space where you feel comfortable. I will send you a secure video link before each session.
Every person is different. Some clients notice shifts within the first few sessions, while deeper or long-standing concerns may take more time. We regularly check in on your progress together, and you are always in control of how long you continue.
Not at all — no referral is needed to book with me. A 15 minute meet and greet is available, so just choose a time and we'll take it from there.
I'm not currently registered to offer Medicare rebates. My session fees are set with that in mind, though, so you're generally looking at a similar out-of-pocket cost to a subsidised session — with more flexibility around scheduling and approach.
Your sessions are private and are never recorded. The only exceptions are where I'm legally required to act — for example, if there's a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if a court orders disclosure.
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This keeps the time available for other clients who may need it.
It really depends on what you're working through. Some people feel the benefit of a handful of sessions, while others prefer ongoing weekly support for a while — we'll talk about pacing in your first session and revisit it as we go.
Sessions are available Monday to Thursday, delivered via secure video conferencing, so you can fit counselling around your week.
That's completely normal. A meet & greet initial 15 minute chat is available and is a low-pressure way to ask questions and get a feel for whether we're a good fit, with zero obligation to continue.
